Everything you need to make this blue version of ‘Trouville’ using the delightfully soft and light Bio Shetland. Bio Shetland is 100% pure organic wool. It is a GOTS certified, Shetland-like rustic wool with a soft, light touch. In order to get the colours I wanted for this colourway I have also added some mini balls of lambswool from my own wool collection, that marry perfectly well with Bio Shetland.

The kit includes:

-A pdf of the pattern which will be sent to your email address to print at home. Avaialable in French and English.

-The complete set of yarns in all the 9 colours you will require for your size, in the exact colourway shown. Colours are : Light Heathered Green, Indigo blue, Burgundy, Fuschia, Black, Mahogany, Straw and Bright Blue and Ecru.

About the pattern:

Inspired by the bright stripy tents and architectural details found in my favourite local seaside town, Trouville-Sur-Mer, in Normandy. Seamless and knit in the round from the top down, it was designed as a loosely tapered and cropped cardigan that can be worn with the buttons down the front OR the back, but it can easily be made as a simple sweater as well, just don’t knit the steek stitches and add short rows at the back neck. You can also easily tailor the length to suit your preference. The sleeves are full and gather at the cuff. Textural details include occasional rows of purl stitch as well as small bobbles around the neckline and cuffs.

A great mid-season sweater for an evening drink on the promenade!

Level of difficulty and skills required
Intermediate. Pattern requires chart-reading
skills and knowledge of how to do short rows if you wish to make the sweater version. Pattern also assumes knowledge of steeking, the Fair Isle technique (stranded colourwork) and cable cast-on.

Materials
1 size 2.25 mm (US 1, UK 13) circular needle 60 cm (24 inches) long for the neck ribbing (and 40 cm (16 inches) long for the cuffs (or dpns, as you prefer)).
1 size 2.75 mm (US 2, UK 12) circular needle 80 cm (32 inches) long for the yoke and body (and 40 cm (16 inches) long for ease of working sleeve stitches (or dpns, as you prefer)).
or needles to get gauge
2 stitch holders or waste yarn
7 (8, 9, 10, 11) 15mm buttons (if making the cardigan).

Gauge
On 2.75 mm, in stocking stitch and after washing and blocking: 26 stitches and 36 rounds to 10 x 10 cm (4 inches x 4 inches). Or use any needles to get gauge, then use two sizes down for the ribbing. On the same needles: 26 stitches and 28 rounds to 10 x 10 cm in yoke pattern. Some knitters find their tension varies between the 2 techniques. Therefore, you may wish to change needles to a smaller size when you start the stocking stitch stripes. It’s good to do a test swatch using both techniques. Please also note that I have a loose tension and many of my testers use 3 mm for my 2.75 mm.
