Create your own handmade designer intarsia sweater with this gorgeous knitting kit, put together from my studio in Normandy.
Each kit includes all the yarn you will need for your size, in the exact colours shown: Leo, Icarus, Black, Kohl, Peach Blossom and Nectar. You will love discovering this luxurious hand dyed yarn by Manos Del Uruguay. Manos is a brand of hand spun & dyed artisan yarns that supports rural Uruguayan women. It is a non-profit organisation that was founded to give local women local jobs, and they have been a pleasure to work with as I developed this pattern.
“Ideal” is a plump, round worsted-weight yarn spun from 100% Polwarth wool, soft and non-itchy.
About the design:
Modernism rendered in wool, Le Radieux is my intarsia homage to Le Corbusier’s Cité Radieuse in Marseille: architectural geometry and theshafts of light and shadow it creates, dissolved into stitches.
Construction:
This raglan sweater is worked flat from the top down. You begin with two front yoke triangles, shaped with increases and joined at the neckline. Raglan increases continue as you work the front panel in Intarsia. Once the raglan depth is reached, you cast on 6 stitches at each underarm and continue the chart straight down. The back and sleeves are then worked flat in Intarsia. Finally, seam the raglan edges and sides, work the neckband in the round, and finish with unattached bottom ribbing for a loose fit, with the back slightly longer than the front.
